Public Health resources focus on H1N1 Vaccination Program

October 22, 2009 - The priority of Public Health services beginning next week for the next few months will be to implement the province's H1N1 vaccination program. In order to implement the program, all available Public Health resources will be deployed to complete this important task. This will result in the temporary postponement of non critical Public Health services that will not cause increased health risks to individuals.

Services being temporarily postponed include the three and a half year preschool screening clinics, health promotion activities, Healthy Learners program in the schools, anonymous confidential HIV testing program and sexual health services.

Priority services for at risk individuals, pediatric immunization clinics and tracking of communicable diseases will continue.

All services will resume as normal and appointments will be rescheduled upon completion of the H1N1 vaccination program.

The public is thanked in advance for their patience and understanding in this manner.

Concerns or questions can be directed to your local Public Health office.
